Who is Harry J. Parrish?

A dedicated public servant whose service to the Northern Virginia community spanned nearly fifty-five years, Mr. Harry J. Parrish (1922-2006) began public service in 1951 as a member of the Manassas Town Council. As Mayor for eighteen years, he had a vision that included the formation of Northern Virginia Community College’s Manassas Campus.

Mr. Parrish served as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1982 until 2006, representing the 50th District which includes the Cities of Manassas, Manassas Park and part of Prince William County.

Mr. Parrish lived his entire life in service to his country, his state, his community, his church and his family. He was a strong advocate and supporter of education and of Northern Virginia Community College. It is for these reasons the Northern Virginia Community College Board has approved the naming of Academic Building Phase III for Harry J. Parrish.
